I went to bed on Tuesday and woke up it was Thursday. I don't know where my Wednesday went!!!

Dream Scheme Thursday

Hey everyone,
This week I went a bit off subject. There's still green in it but.......I decided to do something REALLY simple.
First start out with the new Mushrooms Stencil LL3025

I started with a pre-embossed card, then outlined the stencil with a stylus to create a second embossed border. Emboss the image with a stylus and light box.
Next, stencil color onto the image with pigment ink and stencil brushes. Once finished, sprinkle gold embossing powder only on the tops of the mushrooms. I actually painted on some gold embossing ink over the tops and covered them with embossing powder, then brushed off what I didn't want.

Continuing on with the Green/Irish theme.........

Have I told you how much I love my green sludge? (Sludge: the mixing of two or more colors of paste together to create a multicolor or single color paste) Check with Lynell at the Dreamweaver site for the true definition of sludge paste.

So I decided to use my new favorite green paste and my favorite heart (for now) to make a shamrock for St. Patrick's.

I added just a hint of lime glitter to make it sparkle.

It made up to be a fairly large card, but I like it. Needs a verse or something, but couldn't think what to add before I needed to post it.

So give some suggestions as to how to finish this one.... Looking forward to your ideas. Don't miss the rest of the teams posts. Check back next week!!

So here is my first February challenge.

It's a Leprechaun Kitty! I didn't have any green paste so I mixed Blue Glossy and Yellow Matte. LOVE IT!!! I'm definitely using it more this month.

My kitty is pretty simple, but I love the design so much I don't think it needs a lot of extras. I know I'll be making more of them! Give it a try and try out the other team members blogs. They all just came home from CHA (Craft and Hobby Associate trade show) in LA so I'm sure they will have LOTS of new and creative ideas.

My Gothic Cross

Hey everyone,
Sorry I missed a day or two. Bit under the weather.

So I thought I would try the Memories Mists over the stenciled image.
I used Metallic Red and Blue Martini. The paper was a bit larger than the stencil.
Once I finished spraying I set a second piece of paper over the image and rubbed gently to get a background paper. The spray went under the stencil a bit so I cut it out and mounted it on pearl paper with foam mounting tape. Cut the pearl paper just a bit smaller than the original piece so the over spray on the edges would show like a border.

I kinda liked it.

Catch up Sunday!!

This time I decided to use the new LJ 918 Open cross
I first covered it with Pearlescent Paste on gray paper. Let dry.
Replace the stencil and spray it with Red Metallic Memories Mist.
I then cut it out and mounted it with 3-d foam mounting tape on a pearl metallic paper. I thought it was fitting for my Sunday post.

Now that I'm up and running I have a lot of comments to catch up on on my fellow Dreamteamers blogs. I hope you have been visiting them daily to see what they have created with the new Stencils being introduced this week at the Spring Craft and Hobby Show in Los Angeles, CA. This time I decided to use the same method with the Alcohol Solutions inks that I did on Tuesday. I tried it with the new LL3022 Festive Thank You stencil.

One thing I found was that it doesn't work well with words. One or the other will turn out backwards. Luckily, the words didn't show up very well on the background piece. First paste the image with White Glossy paste, let dry. Replace the stencil and color with Alcohol Solutions. Because I wanted the image to stand out more, I outlined portions of the image to create a shadow effect.

For the background portion, sprinkle Alcohol Solutions cleaner on ink left on stencil then lay a piece of white glossy paper over it and rub.

Then paste the Thank You over it with White Matte paste, sprinkle with glitter. Again I outlined just a portion to create a shadow effect.

I LOVE these new images!!!

Friday, January 27th

This time I used the new LX 7011 Big Dots background.

First I taped it over a piece of white glossy paper. Then added Alcohol solutions in three colors with a random pattern.

Then I cut a small piece of white glossy paper and created a background with the same three colors. Pasted the Thank You with white paste.

Assemble as shown! This one made up pretty fast too.

Thursday January 26th

This time I used the new background stencil LX 7010 Flower quatrefoil:

I pasted it with White Matte Paste, let dry. Replace stencil and add color with pigment ink and stencil brushes.
Cut out 3 flowers and 4 sides to use as the corners on the front of the card.

I used silk leaves under the flower. I love the way the finished flower looks like velvet.

Well my computer has been down for most of the week so I have to get caught up!!

Here is my Wednesday Post:

Using the alcohol inks directly on the stencil, I covered it in Gourd Green (LOVE IT!), has to be one of my absolute favorites. Sprinkle the Color Solution cleaner over it. Lay a piece of White Glossy paper onto the stencil and gently rub over the whole image. Lift, let dry. Drys really quick.

Trim down and paste a verse over the lower corner. Quick and easy.

New Stencils: Day 2

While playing with the Kitty Kat No#2 and alcohol inks, I accidentally came up with a card I really liked!

First, I pasted Kat no#2 with white paste, let dry. Position the stencil over the top of image and tap Dreamweaver Alcohol Inks over it.

I cut out the kitty so it would stand out from the paper more.

Because there was so much ink left on the stencil, I didn't want to waste it so I shook some Color Solution Cleaner over it, set a piece of white glossy paper on it, rubbed and got a reverse image.

I liked how this turned out so well, I tryed some other stencils. Check back tomorrow to see what other stencil I used with the same technique.

Dreamweaver is going to be introducing new designs at the Craft & Hobby Association(CHA) Trade Show this week. To help introduce these great new designs, we (the Dreamteam) get to show samples of these great new designs all weeks long. This morning I'm showing one of the new kitty kats.

I used Dreamweavers Alcohol inks on a plain white glossy paper. Then pasted the Cat with White Glossy Paste over the top. Visit the other members of the team and check back daily to see more ideas with the fantastic new designs from Dreamweaver Stencils!!

Helloooooo........
This week I am continuing the Pink/Red/White Valentine theme. I'm using the same stencils I did two weeks ago..LL567 Heart Swirls and LS1004 You&Me
Clean and simple:
Paste heart with Red Glossy Paste two times on background. Let dry.
Mix Red Glossy Paste and White Glossy Paste to create a pink color you like.
Paste a pink heart over the two red ones.
On a separate piece of paper, paste You & Me with pink paste. Let dry.
Cut slits on sides of You&Me. Thread ribbon through the slits. Assemble as shown.
Quick card (dry time with Glossy paste is pretty quick)

This week we are keeping it in the Valentine theme. I went with two stencils and red/white/gold. First I started with LL3011
Paste it with red paste on white paper.
Second I used LM276. This I also pasted with red paste on white paper.

After dry I edged both images with Galaxy Gold Brillance ink. Found a sheer gold ribbon, red satin ribbon and a gold satin ribbon. Tied all three in a bow and voila! This is the result:
Simple, but pretty.

Welcome to the first posting of the Dreamweaver Stencils' Dream Team 2012 ! We're changing things up a bit for this year, and YOU can help. The first Thursday of every month will feature our new challenge and will extend through the entire month. I decided to make my card a bit different. Instead of paste or stenciling I used colored pencils. It is a rougher look, not as clean and smooth as paste. But it did give me the result I was looking for. Trace the image with red for three hearts and the verse. Trace two hearts in pink pencil. Color in the verse with the pink. Combine 3 or 4 colors of red and pink to color in the center heart. Add a bit of glitter glue and there you go!

It's Dream Scheme Thursday

Hello everyone,
I'm so happy to have my computer back!! I know that I told you I'd be posting my missed weeks, well........in picking up my work area so the computer guy could get to my computer, I've miss placed a few things. I will find them and get them on the blog (hopefully soon!). In the meantime here is this weeks challenge.

We are doing Red and Gold. I did a Red and Gold a couple of weeks ago, so this one had me a bit stumped until I remembered this stencil

I made the card pretty simple since there's a lot going on in the image.

First paste the image with Gold paste on red print paper. Let dry. On one side of wording and line above and below wording, shadow with black permanent pen fine point. Layer on gold striped paper then again on the print paper.
Finally, add Christmas glitter glue (red and gold mix) to the holly berries. Quick and easy!!

I finally have my computer back....YAHOO!!!
So I'll be posting each day to catch up. This was the post from the 8th. See you Monday....

This week in celebration of getting the Christmas Tree up AND decorated, I decided to share a card I made for the submission for the DreamTeam 2012. I really had fun doing it and it ended up being easier than I thought.

First I pasted three images in silver paste on green paper, let dry.
Rough cut each one out. Fold two in half and crease. Fold the third with a loose or soft crease. Attach the two that you have made a hard crease in, to the back of the one with the soft crease.

Attach the three trees to the front of a layered card.

Add glitter glue to highlight areas on the center tree.

Dream Scheme December!!

Happy December! This weeks challenge is Silver and Turquoise. I had this idea pop into my head. Didn't turn out too bad. Especially since several of the things that pop into my head don't come out of my hands right!

I used the Skates LL3016

I pasted them with Silver stencil paste. Then sprinkled Turquoise glitter over them. I didn't do it evenly because I wanted some of the silver paste to show through. I then used silver glitter glue to enhance the blades.
Unfortunately the lighting wasn't the best to capture the colors as well as I would have liked. But, I'm happy with my results!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

In keeping with the feeling of the season I have a thank you card that is made using one of my favorite techniques.

First paste image with gold paste. Remove stencil and while paste is still wet, gentle set jewels in paste.

Let paste dry then reposition stencil over image again. Sponge glue from glue pad over pot only. Remove stencil, heat (just a bit). Lay variegated leafing over pot and set a piece of wax paper over the top. Burnish. Brush away excess leafing.

Position Thank You stencil on card and paste with gold paste. Remove stencil, let dry and voila!

HEEELLLLOOOOOO!
It sounds better when Mrs. Doubtfire says it.....

This week we are creating from a sketch that Wendy came up with.

LOTS of ways to use this one. As soon as I saw it, Hark the Heralds Angel's Sing, started going through my head. So this is what came out of it.

I first used the Prince of Peace stencil and pasted it with Glossy Red Paste. Set it aside and let dry.

Then I used the Nativity scene stencil This I pasted in Gold Glossy Paste. Once I removed the stencil I sprinkled a little Gold Halo glitter onto the robes of Joseph and Mary.

This picture shows the dimension a bit better. Even though it came out sideways. Couldn't get it to straighten up! (Working with the technically challenged again!!)

It's "Free" Dream Scheme Thursday

Hello all,
This week is a "free" week - so we can post whatever we feel inclined to.

Since I am still experiencing some technical difficulties (or as it should read, I am having difficulty being technical), I have picked an oldie but goodie..........

This is a stencil on stencil technique. Pretty easy really.
Start by dry embossing the image. Then with stencil in place, add color using pigment ink and stencil brushes. Remove stencil, clean and replace. Set a second stencil over the top of the main stencil image (here the Ginko leaves), and add color. For the design on the leaves I used the large Damask background LX7001 and rust pigment ink.

Try it. Once you start you can't stop. You'll be looking at your stencils to see which ones you can stencil over. Have fun with this, check back next week. You know this only worked this morning because I desperately needed it to work on Wednesday night!!!!

Anyway, here's the card.

I made an extra of each full piece to cut the center bird out of both the white glossy and black glossy pasted images. I wanted it to be the focal point.

Well after several tries, I succeeded in deleting over 2000 pictures on my camera (NOT ON PURPOSE)and not being able to upload my pictures. Tried a different camera..... now I just need to find someone to see if they can recover my pictures.

Anyway....still can't get them to load. Will keep trying. Did take a peek at the other design team sites and there are some really beautiful cards. Will keep trying until I get my card posted.

I'm a bit behind. I have noticed that with the weather getting colder, it takes things a bit longer to dry!!

This week we have a color theme...or should I say a neutral theme.

Black & White

(Unfortunately I am having digital difficulty, PLEASE check back this evening)

I really like the dramatic effect black and white against each other creates. As soon as I heard this was the challenge for the week, I thought of a technique Lynell of Dreamweaver stencils taught some time ago.

Using the same stencil you paste with two different colors of paste on two different pieces of paper. Then when dry, cut them both in half and match the left side of the first color to the right side of the other color. Kinda confusing to explain, but easy once you see the sample.

It looks great with the metallic pastes. Try black paste on copper paper, then copper paste on black paper. Create the same look of my card but using the metallics.

Helllloooooooooooooo!

This week we have a sketch from Kim. I immediately knew what I wanted to do when I saw it......I just wasn't sure how I was going to do it. I don't know about you, but sometimes I just can't get the idea in my head to come out of my hands.

This is Kim's sketch...
Kim's sketch lends itself to SSOOOOO many ways to create a card.
I decided to use the new Artist Grade Alcohol Inks "Color Solution" from Dreamweaver. The colors are beautiful. They are like potato chips.....you can't have just one. I definitely have to have them ALL!

I decided to use the Cathedral Window stencils, both large and small.

I used White Glossy paste and the LM2010 Large Paste Spreader. It works GREAT with the larger stencils to get your paste on even and with one swipe!
After that dried, I replaced the stencil and daubed Winter Red, Pumpkin and Citron over the pasted area.

I put the large design in the small space and the small design in the large places.
Then daubed the same colors on a square of glossy white paper. This shows off the colors really nice. The felt flowers matched so well I decided to use them as my accent. Ta-da....done.

Hope you try this sketch for some of your card designs. Watch for these new inks at your local stamp stores. Don't forget to visit the other members of the Dream Team.

Dreamweaver Free Week

Hello All!
I can't wait for this weekend when I get to play and create. I'll finally have some new creations for you to see on my blog.
But for now......it's a free week this week.
The following is an old card, but one of my favorites.

To do this I used the white matte paste over the pumpkin border stencil. Let dry, place the cleaned stencil back over the image and stenciled color onto it with pigment ink.

Funny thing, as I was taking pictures I noticed I had missed stenciling color over one of the leaves. Never noticed it before (I made this at least a year ago!).

Look close and you'll see it. Looks like I better fix it before I send it out.

Dream Scheme Thursday

This week is a color challenge from Lee. LOVE the colors - Lime Green and Gray. I can't wait until I can get to my "stuff" again so I can create some of the ideas that are running around in my head!

But until then............

Here is my current creation

First I pasted LJ911 Gears with Dreamweaver white matte paste on dark grey paper and again on off white paper.

Once dry, I stenciled silver pigment ink from the Splendor Antique pad onto the image on grey paper. Then I stenciled one gear on the off white paper with the lime green pigment ink from the Splendor Magic pad. This one I cut out. I wanted a small silver brad to attach the lime green gear and the ribbon to the front of the card, but I could only find a white thumb tack. The tack surface was rubbed with the silver pigment also.

This angle makes it easier to see the silver pigment.

Once assembled, the silver half pearls were attached to the center of some of the gears.

Day Six of the Hop Across the Pond and Back!

It's tough to follow so many creative people!

When we were all bouncing the idea of a blog hop with Woodware UK, I immediately thought they were a "wood" crafting distributor. That was the wrong idea. I went to their website (hope you all have too) and found they carry LOTS of fun embellishments. Unfortunately for me, I already had wood in my mind.

So.......since I have never done anything with stencils and wood, I decided to give it a try. I must say, it may not look as polished as many of the other projects, but I LOVED doing it! I just happened to have a set of boxes that fit the bill. I started with the next to smallest size.

When I first got the boxes I had in my mind to paint them in some sort of distressed look. I kept this idea by first painting the box with green acrylic paint. Then painted over the green finish with a fairly dry sponge brush and brown paint.

Now that I had the paint finish like I wanted it, the challenge was which stencils to use and how to do them. I love the large flourish LJ 896 Large flourish. I wanted a rough or distressed look to the stenciled image so I sponged acrylic paint through the stencil directly onto the box. I found that acrylic paint, wet or dry, washes off the stencils very easily.

The flourish looked a bit lonely on my box....this is when I decided to add the butterflies. They were sponged onto the box with acrylic paint also.

Once they dried I thought they looked a bit flat, so I stenciled some gold pigment ink onto the bodies and wings. This made them "pop".

To finish, the dots on the stenciled flourish were highlighted with yellow gold dimensional paint.

Dream Scheme Thursday

Hello All!
This week is a color challenge and challenge it was. Since the majority of my supplies (like 25%) is in a storage unit here in Wyoming and the other 78% is still in storage in California, I had a good time improvising!

Our colors this week are Red, Kraft and Ivory. The closest I could come up with were Watermelon Red, Kraft paper bag and Ivory cardstock. But I think it came out OK.

I pasted the image with Dreamweaver Original White Matte Paste. Then stenciled color over it.

Today is a "Free" post.
I decided to feature my new favorite stencil.....the Apron.

I traced the image onto fabric, cut it out and layered it. Pretty simple.
It reminded me of a verse my mom gave me, because my Grandmother was never without her apron:
History of APRONS

I don't think our kids know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect
The dress underneath, because she only had a
Few, it was easier to wash aprons than dresses
And they used less material, but along with
That, it served as a potholder for removing
Hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on
Occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty
Ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying
Eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched
Eggs to be finished in the warming
Oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding
Places for shy kids.

And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around
Her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent
Over the hot wood stove.

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in
That apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables.
After the peas had been shelled, it carried out
The hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that
Had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was
Surprising how much furniture that old apron
Could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the
Porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was
Time to come in from the fields to
Dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something
That will replace that 'old-time apron' that
Served so many purposes.

Send this to those who would know (and love) the story
About Grandma's aprons.

REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the
Window sill to cool.

Her Granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to
Thaw.

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs
Were on that apron.

* I don't think anyone ever caught anything from an apron. *

I lost the month of June! Sitting in a classroom (actually several) seemed endless, yet the month went by REALLY fast. I'm finally out of training and into my new job. Now I just have to get into my new routine!

What better way to begin than to be creative!!
I believe this is a free week so........... in honor of my new state of residence, I have decided to use two cards I made in a class that Lynell taught at Stamper's Warehouse a couple of years ago.

I chose these two cards since I have seen Elk in the canyon I drove through to get to SLC, UT for training and a Moose actually ran up my dad's driveway a couple of weeks ago.

This technique is the same as the total glitter and tac paper technique EXCEPT - you use flocking instead of glitter on the main image.

Start with a piece of Tac, double stick tape cut approximately the same size as the stencil you are going to use. Remove one side and attach to a piece of cardstock.
"Soap" the back of your stencil. Remove the other protective cover of the tack paper and set your stencil on top of it.
Cover the stencil area with flocking (I used Dark Brown, Tan and Yellow on my two projects). Tap off excess. Remove stencil and cover remaining Tac paper with ultra fine Prisma glitter.

and "Ta-Da" a woodland creature (or whatever you choose to do).
I had great fun going through my samples. It has inspired me to do new ones! Stay tuned next week for something all new.

Sorry I've been MIA. I had a bad cold for 10 days, started a new job AND moved to a whole new state!

Didn't want to miss out on another Thursday, so here's my card. It's been so rainy and snowy here, this seemed appropriate!

It's Thursday and this week is a "free" week so anything goes.

It seems the weather can't make up it's mind whether it is spring or still winter. This card seemed appropriate since we had rain again yesterday.

First I made the umbrella and handle out of cardstock. Attach to front of card.
Then I made a mask under the umbrella where I didn't want the rain.
Next place the raindrop stencil over the top and apply blue gloss paste.

Once dry I added the "Get Well Soon" with this stencil, blue paste and blue glitter.

Once that dried, I drew in the grass.
For a get well card, I thought it looked a bit cheery!

Dream Scheme Thursday (and I'm late)

I was out of town for a week and you would think it had been a month for as behind as I've become!!!

This week the Dream Scheme is a color challenge from team member Kristi. I love the colors she picked so it made coming up with an idea easy.

The color challenge is Yellow and Teal.

This is my interpretation:

I wanted each layer to have both colors on it. So I started with the bright yellow cardstock and the LX7001 Damask background stencil. I added Splendor bright blue ink (which looks teal on the yellow). Then on a light teal color cardstock I used the same stencil and added bright yellow Splendor ink. Then I flipped it so the design was going the opposite direction of the first yellow cardstock mat.

The owls were pasted with Yellow Matte Paste on dark teal cardstock. Once dry I repositioned the stencil over the image and added a bit of bright blue ink on the owls and branch. Finally I added a bit of bling on the eyes with teal jewels.

Next time I think I'll add teal glitter on the owls where I had stenciled the color for some more sparkle!

It's Dream Scheme Thursday

I hate when the perfect idea or sample is right in front of my face and it takes hours to see it.

I have a class this weekend with an "Easter/All Occasion Card" theme. One of the cards is using the mini bunny stencil LS1007. Another card is using an adaption of this weeks sketch pattern. I'd been staring at them all morning, when the light bulb came on! Yeah! I combined the two to get this weeks challenge card:
First I mixed Red Glossy Paste with Yellow Matte Paste to get my red/orange bunny. Orange Glossy paste would have been much easier but I didn't have any AND I like the way my mix came out better for this project. I cut the bunny out and outlined his head with a glitter pen.

I also colored over the verse with glitter pen. It doesn't really show in the pictures.
This card came out so well, it's going to go to my parents for Easter. Try this weeks sketch, it's very versatile. For more ideas, make sure you check out my fellow dream teamers blogs.

This week is a "free theme". I picked a card from my archives that I really like.

I used two different stencils. It was a challenge getting it to work right, but my perserverance paid off!

First I took the love birds from
LL3011 Love bird heart, masked off all the heart and used red paste for the birds.

Then I positioned
LL3012 Bird cage over the top of the birds and used silver paste. Once dry, I sponged through the vine heart from the love bird heart stencil with kaleidacolor Creole Spice to create the vines behind the image. Finally I sponged some color with a very light touch at the bottom of the card.

Dream Scheme Thursday

Okay, I don't know who did it or how they did it but.........someone has stolen all the Thursdays in my calender. No wonder I've been missing our Thursday deadlines!!!

Well I thought it made a clever excuse............ Anywho,

This week is colorway challenge. Dream team member Kim Parkinson, chose the colors blue, brown and cream. I really like these colors together.

Ever since Lynell of Dreamweaver Stencils, posted a "chocolate bunny" card on her blog, I've been wanting to make one. So I did. I think this would be a good Easter Card for a man.

I started with an A-6 brown card. Cut a navy blue matt for the front of the card. Cut a strip of cream cardstock. I assembled these two piece with double stick tape to front of card.

I then stenciled (added color to paper through a stencil with pigment ink and a stencil brush) the bunny in brown on cream cardstock. Clean stencil, I used a paper towel. I let the image. sit for approx 10 minutes just so the ink would sink into the paper. Then I repositioned the stencil over the image, taped the stencil down with removable tape and applied pearlescent stencil paste.

Once this had dried, I attached the image to a navy blue matt, then to a brown matt and attached to my card front with foam mounting tape.

Last, I punched three squares; two brown, one navy, and attached on the diagonal to the cream strip of paper. Ta-dah....my little chocolate bunny.

First Dream Scheme for March

Hello everyone. The Dream Scheme Theme this week is a "free" choice. So I choose one of my favorite new stencils......

The Rooster.
I LOVE this stencil!!

I used the Metallic F/X powders to create this colorful bird.
First I used black paste to get the image. Let dry. Reposition stencil over image and tap the image with the a dauber loaded up with the Palette Stamp and Stick Glue. Make sure you daub gently so not to push the glue under the stencil.

Then stencil with Metallic F/X powders. I added a shadow under the rooster with a light grey marker.

It's fun and easy!! Now you give it a try!

It's Dream Scheme Thursday!!

I don't know what happened last week, I lost Thursday......

This week we have a "Sketch" theme.

This is the sketch. It can be interpreted any way you want. Your finished project should have the same (or very similar) lines that follow the sketch.

So here's my interpretation:

I LOVE these little owls!!
These are the steps I followed to create this card:
*Dry emboss owls into Core'dinations paper
*File off brown layer with an emery board. I pushed fairly hard.
*Outline the image with fine tip markers
*Paint the owls with irridescent watercolor paints.

*Assemble as shown

It's hard to see the color, but it came out very shimmery. I tell you I have such a better respect for Still Life Photographers! Getting lighting right to show an image at it's best is something I have not mastered, but will keep trying.

Welcome to the Virtual Valentine's Day Blog Hop...

I decided to try something totally different for Valentine's Day. I wanted something three dimensional so here is what I came up with.....

I used stencil LL3010. Dry embossed it 4 times. Dusted red ink over the top of each one. Then cut out the center with an exacto knife and the outer edge with scissors. Score down the center of each heart.

I used the nestability classic oval to cut the ovals in the card and matts. Take a piece of embroidery floss or four strands of thread and tape to card front centering over open oval.

Apply double stick tape on the back of the four hearts, fold them in half and attach them to each other over string. Punch out four small hearts and attach to string in the same way inside center of large hearts.

Attach the print and solid matts to the card front. Be careful not to catch any of the hearts under the matts. Hope you like the finished result.

Hi Everyone!
I think I jinxed myself when I said I was going to stay caught up!!! Shortly there after I came down with a horrible bug. I'm just starting to get back into the swing of things.

This weeks theme is Valentines Day Colourway - Pink and Brown

I love pink and brown. Don't know who came up with it, but I really like the color combination.

My card is pretty self explanatory except, I mixed one part glossy red paste with three parts glossy white paste to make up the pink I used on my heart design.

This is really today's challenge. This week is a free theme. The weather has been so pretty the last couple of days that I couldn't resist this simple stenciled design. It made me think of spring, even though technically we are still in winter.

This is pretty self explanatory. I stenciled the image with pigment ink. Don't look too close because I have a bit of a smudge on one of the flowers. Enjoy the pretty weather, I'm sure it will turn icky again soon.

I did a Faux-Cloisonne again. I just love the technique. I tried to use a pen in my Thank You stencil to get the verse but it didn't come out very well so I had to rewrite over it with a marker. After thought, I should have used red paste.....next time.

Thursday, January 6th - Free Dream Scheme

This week we have a "Free" challenge. This means anything goes!
For this week I have a sample I did some time ago. I really like the effect I was able to achieve.

I started with the Faux Cloinsonne technique. Stencil ink inside image. I used white and gold pigment inks. Cover image with clear UTEE (Ultra think embossing enamel), tap off excess and heat with a heat gun.

Then stencil Brilliance Metallic Gold over the top of the flowers and leaves. Cover with regular clear embossing powder, tap off and heat.

You can see the gold veins in the image. Subtle but dramatic!

I can't believe it is 2011 already and I'm ALREADY BEHIND!!

I'm not doing to well with my first New Year's resolution to try to stay current!

It's Dreamweaver Thursday and I'm trying to catch up all of January.

Happy New Year's Eve eve everyone!

This weeks challenge is Love in the New Year.
I have chosen to do a Valentines card with non-traditional colors

I don't normally use purple but.........
Once I had stenciled the Rose, red just didn't seem a good choice for the back ground. So purple it is!

To do the background on the main card front, I stenciled just the rose over and over with white pigment ink. Once it dried it looks lite blue. Then I pasted the verse in gold glossy paste.

I rough cut the heart by hand. Then edged all three pieces with Gold Brilliance pigment ink.
Simple but fun! Make sure you create your own "Love in the New Year" sample and post it on the Dream it Up Blog.

Thursday Dream Scheme

Technically it's still Thursday.....right?! I'm a bit behind. Finally figured out what I was doing. Had to thaw out, it's only 23 degrees right now.

Anyway....
Here is my Dreamweaver card for this Thursday. It is a free challenge so we could create whatever we like. I chose to do the faux cross stitch technique. I really like the way this comes out.

I'll have to give you directions in a couple of days. I'm off to finish wrapping presents. Merry Christmas everyone!!

It's Dream Scheme Thursday!

This week the challenge is blue and purple featuring Dreamweaver Blue Glossy Paste.

I am not a purple person so I have to step outside the box on this one. I wanted to create something where the colors (blue and purple) would blend from one to another.

I started with the LG691 Thank you stencil. The triple matching Thank you's were stenciled with blue paste. Once the stencil was removed I immediately covered the third "thank" with blue glitter and the third "you" with purple glitter.

Once the paste had dried I replaced the stencil back over the image. Then sponged glue pad over the first thank you. Remove the stencil and dust Perfect Fx powder #14 Purple Satin over the first "thank". Then carefully dust Perfect Fx powder #17 Navajo Sky. So the colors went purple fx, blue fx, blue paste, blue paste, blue glitter, purple glitter. This is my interpretation of fading from purple to blue back to purple.

Next I needed a background. I pasted LJ896 Large Swirl with Glossy Blue Paste. Once the stencil was removed, I pinched little bits of purple glitter and sprinkled it over the image.

Unfortunately, the photos don't do it justice.

Free Challenge

This weeks challenge is all up to us. I picked the Faux Cloisonne. I really love this technique because you never are sure what you are going to get.

I started with the Whale stencil. Paste with White Matte Paste. Let dry. Once dry, place stencil over image, stencil light blue and grey pigment ink over image. Remove stencil, cover with clear UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) tap off excess, heat with heat gun. Put Stencil over image and stencil dark blue pigment ink over image. Remove stencil and cover with regular clear embossing powder. Tap off excess and heat.
The speckled look on the whales back looks like the reflection of the ocean.

Thursday December 2nd Sketch Challenge

To kick off our Thursday Dreamweaver Challenges, we will be following a sketch idea. I became acquainted with sketch ideas when I started Scrapbooking. Sometimes it is easier to sketch out my idea for a page and then add the pictures and elements. The same is true for card making. If you get a layout idea, sketch it. A sketch you can use with almost any image in almost any color

It's Thanksgiving Day and the first Dreamweaver Design Team's "Thursday's Dream Schemes".

Welcome to the Thanksgiving Day Parade of Christmas Cardmaking.

To kick off today's Dream Scheme, we are showing Christmas cards that are not traditional colors. No Red, No Green! Well I had to do one dot of red. How would you be able to tell which reindeer is Rudolph!!

Georgia has a card on her blog that inspired me to go a step further. Maybe a Wacko step further.

I love the Santa and Reindeer stencil, but I wanted more than just a silhouette look, so...........................

I dry embossed the image onto cream card stock. Then colored in details on the image with colored pencils using a magnifying glass!

Punch a circle in a post it note. Use the reverse on card front and sponge in a moon. Then cover the moon with the punched circle and stamp snowflakes over the whole card.

Because I didn't have the "Row of Houses" stencil, I tried to draw them using the picture in the catalog. (Good thing Santa was the main focus!! )

Color dust dark blue and blue gray ink around edged of card.

Rough cut Santa and Reindeer and gently dust outer edges with dark blue ink. Mount onto card front with foam mounting tape

I chose a mustard color snowflake paper to mount the card face on.

It only took three tries to get an image I was happy with. It was definitely a challenge, but fun. Try it sometime you want to create outside the box!

Christmas Card Marathon Samples

Hey everyone!
It's that time of year again (actually a week past). For those who are not familiar with the marathon, I'll explain. Each year I come up with 6 card ideas, you sign up for class and pick one of the samples. Then at class time you will receive a kit to make 24 cards/envelopes of the card sample you picked. Most kits have all the stamping done, everything is cut, you just color and assemble. FUN!!!

Blog Hop Cont'd

Okay it's a ridiculous hour of the morning but I had to get up to continue our creative adventure. So please excuse any typos!! Hopefully you have been leaving comments as you go through all the blogs, it increases your chances to win fabulous Dreamweaver products.

My first card is made using the LG 711 Rhinestone tree and White Glossy Embossing Paste. Once the paste was dry I added Stickles Christmas Red Glitter Glue. I added more dots across the bottom right side of the card with the glitter glue. I then outlined the tree trunk and some of the branches with Stickles Crystal Glitter Glue. Next I had some fun with LG 660 Boot

For this card I pasted the boot with Black Matte Embossing Paste and let it dry.
Then I placed the Boot stencil back over the image. On top of that I placed the LJ 896 Large Flourish over the boot and applied ink from a Palette Stamp & Stick Gluepad with a large dauber. Next I sprinkled FX10 Kiwi and FX12 Glacier over the swirl. I removed the flourish and taped around the top, heel and toe portion of the boot. Again daub gluepad ink over the areas and using a stencil brush, stencil FX15 Kimono Red over them. It's mounted on metallic red paper and then on a glossy faux alligator paper. It really makes the image POP!

My Aunt is turning 80 this week. She raises horse in California so I wanted to make her a special card that reminded me of her. This is the result:

For this one I dry embossed the front boot. Then covered it with LL 3003 Hot Air Balloon. Using my Picasso to mask off the lower lines of the balloon, I stenciled the color onto the boot. Once that was done, color was applied to the rest of the image using Spendor Pigment Ink Pad #14 Magic. For the second boot image, the stencil was then repositioned at an angle and color added the same way as above. This time it was colored flat with no dry embossing.

I enjoy the large open stencils, they are so fun to fill in with other images! So this leads us to my last card.

For this one I started with LJ 903 Large Open Fan. First dry emboss, then stencil color leaving the center almost blank. Next LL585 Romantic Rose was positioned over the fan (the fan stencil is still over image) and color was stenciled onto the fan through the rose stencil. Finally, with the fan stencil still in place I positioned a plain piece of cardstock over the fan lining up a point at the upper edge with a "spoke" at the base. A light dusting of color was applied to represent the folds of the fan. This was repeated ten more times to create the illusion of the folds.

I finally was able to get a picture that shows off the shimmer on this card. I stenciled the image with Splendor pigment ink, then edged the image with Brilliance gold pigment. Simple, but I liked the way it came out.

I've been working on this idea for awhile. This is the third version. The first two didn't go so well. I am happy with this one. In the last Dreamweaver goodie box, we received hat pins. I was determined to figure out a way to use them. I really wanted to create a pinwheel effect with the fern leaf LM2001 image. After pasting it in a circle. Then individually to create a circle I finally decided on this half fan look. The pins added a subtle accent to the fan effect. Let me know what you think.

Faux Cloisonne' class

Taught a stencil class last week using the Faux Cloisonne' technique. It was great fun. These are some of the projects we did in class. Everyone did a great job. I have to admit some of the students projects were much better than mine! Student surpassed the teacher.
